Tour Details
Originally an island, Kaikoura (which means ‘meal of crayfish’ in Maori) sits on what has, over time, become a rocky peninsula which protrudes out into the sea. Here, a complex marine system within deep ocean canyons provides an abundantly rich habitat for a multitude of protected marine mammals and seabirds.
On your journey, we’ll take you through the beautiful rural wine region of North Canterbury, where you’ll enjoy a delicious morning tea picnic.
Then, after your helicopter trip, and lunch in an historic restaurant, we’ll visit a popular lookout with more spectacular views and photo opportunities, and visit a NZ Fur Seal colony. Before returning to Christchurch, you can take a walk on the Kaikoura Peninsula walkway or stop at a Waipara winery for wine tasting and sampling some of the South Island’s renowned cheese.
